Roll with it
I had a conversation yesterday with a man about women that work, women that stay at home, and then his personal dream: the woman that greets him at the door with a smile and a cocktail, the babies clean and smiling in pajamas, food simmering and ready to be served.
Career and Kids touched on the same issue this morning so it must be something in the air.
Of course, after he presented his dream woman, he laughed that he married better than that, as he loves his wife and her wit and intelligence. Things are not a black and white tv show, but didn’t “Pleasantville” teach us that the world is better in color? If color is a euphemism for “insanity”, I have had a healthy dose this week. The vets office is wondering why two dogs that were supposed to be picked up on Saturday are still there on WEDNESDAY.
The past few weeks I have been working twelve hour “shifts” only to turn around, rush home, kiss cheeks, read stories, have a snuggle, sleep, wake up and start all over again. I love my job and I love what I do, but there isn’t an off button, or even the smaller “easy” button. At 1:00 a.m. when I crawled into bed, visions of clients danced in my head. “Did I do this right? Did she understand what I was saying? When was that deadline again?”
The light at the end of the tunnel is the time I have taken off for Christmas, and the mandatory work from home I will be doing on a particular project. It doesn’t make it any easier right now, when all I want to do is wander through the mall searching for the perfect gift.

Oh, I hear you too.
I’d like that study and that cocktail right about now, in fact (and it isn’t even 9 AM!)
